Pump or Dump 2021 - Tennessee Titans

Draft Season is here! Bestball Leagues are flowing! The NFL Preseason is upon us. Drafthustle is here to get you ready to dominate your drafts and get to the money and the trophies! This is part of a series I am titling "Pump, Stump and Dump". From each team, I will be choosing one player I am high on (Pump), and one player I am avoiding in fantasy drafts for the 2021 season (Dump). You can check out my rankings here!

PUMP – Julio Jones, WR

MFL10 ADP – WR18 (#45 Overall)

NDL Rank – WR12

It seems as though people have forgotten just how good Julio Jones is. He only played in 9 games last season due to injury, but he finished put up a top 3 WR 33% of the time. He also averaged 16.23 Fantasy PPG, which was good for 15th in the league. The upside and consistency he has displayed throughout his career is still valuable in fantasy football. Even with the anticipated decrease in volume, he should still be drafted as a low-end WR1 at worst, and not his current value, which is mid-level WR2. There are two WRs in particular that are being drafted above Julio (Ceedee Lamb – 11th; Chris Godwin – 16th ) that I would not caution against. Grab Julio in the 4th round wherever you can.

DUMP – Ryan Tannehill, QB

MFL10 ADP – QB12 (#90 Overall)

NDL Rank – QB11

I have Ryan Tannehill ranked slightly higher than he current ADP, so I am relatively “high” on him. My issue is where he is being drafted overall, which is currently in the 9th round. While he has been very efficient and consistent the past few years, he has not flashed as much upside as you might think. Tannehill finished 10th in PPG at the QB position, but of those 10 QBs, he is the only one who finished outside of the top 12 in more than half of his games last season.

My QB draft strategy generally is to wait on the position, particularly in leagues where you only start 1 QB. If I decide to take one early, it will be on the Sinister 6 (Mahomes, Jackson, Allen, Murray, Prescott, Wilson) around the 5th or 6th round. Other than that, I will wait until the double-digit rounds to nab a QB. Round 9 is where I like to round out my WR position or grab a 3rd RB when I have taken 2 early. Tannehill will be on very few of my fantasy teams come draft season if he remains at his current ADP.
