2020 NFL Draft Fantasy Grades: AFC South

The 2020 NFL draft is finally completed. Some teams made some very relevant moves in terms of fantasy football. Some others left everyone scratching their head (Yes, we are talking about you, Green Bay Packers) as they did nothing to improve their own chances at winning. I will be giving a division by division breakdown of each team’s fantasy relevant draft picks and how it will impact them in the upcoming fantasy season.

Houston TexansC

Notable Draft Picks

OT Charlie Heck

WR Brandin Cooks (via trade)

The Texans draft was severely handicapped by the moves made by Bill O’Brien. Trading Deandre Hopkins was once of the biggest shocks of the offseason. They were able to salvage that move by trading away a 2nd round pick for WR Brandin Cooks from the Rams. They also drafted T Charlie Heck out of North Carolina. He will help keep Deshaun Watson from scrambling for his life.

Indianapolis Colts A

Notable Draft Picks

WR Michael Pittman

RB Jonathan Taylor

QB Jacob Eason

I absolutely love what the Colts did in this draft. They drafted WR Michael Pittman out of USC, a 6’4” WR who will be an immediately red zone threat for new QB Philip Rivers. They were also able to get RB Jonathan Taylor out of Wisconsin, the top RB prospect in the draft. Taylor is more talented than Marlon Mack and should supplant him as the starting RB sooner rather than later.

Jacksonville JaguarsC+

Notable Draft Picks

WR Laviska Shenault Jr.

WR Collin Johnson

The Jaguars chose, at least for the foreseeable future, to build their offense around Gardner Minshew, so he will need all the weapons he can get. WR Laviska Shenault out of Colorado can play every WR position on the field and even got some work out of the backfield in college. He will help the Jaguars muster anything they can on offense, and keep them from having the #1 overall pick in 2021 that they are currently projected to have.

Tennessee TitansA

Notable Draft Picks

OT Isaiah Wilson

RB Darrynton Evans

The Titans shocked everyone by reaching the AFC Championship game last year despite changing starting QBs halfway through the season. They were able to keep the key pieces of that team by resigning Ryan Tannehill and giving Derrick Henry the franchise tag. They also made good use of the draft. OT Isaiah Wilson out of Georgia will help protect Tannehill, while RB Darrynton Evans will help t spell Derrick Henry and keep him fresh for another playoff run down the stretch.
