Week 16 Fanduel DFS Plays of the Week: Bop & Flop

Jahmyr Gibbs, Detroit Lions

DraftHustle’s Top Plays (Bop) and Fades (Flop) of the week for FanDuel DFS.

QB

Bop – Baker Mayfield – TB, $8,100 – vs Cowboys

Baker Mayfield has been stellar this season particularly in good matchups, of which he has one in week 16 facing the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys rank in the bottom 10 of the league in all metrics defending the QB position, except sack% and int%, meaning Baker and the Bucs offense will be able to do what they want in this matchup.  Tampa has the 4th highest implied Vegas team total (26.25 points) on the slate, so expect another good to great performance from Baker.

Flop – Jayden Daniels – WAS, $8,200 – vs Eagles

Jayden Daniels draws the worst matchup for QBs on the season in week 16 as he faces the Philadelphia Eagles.  Philly gives up the second fewest pass yards per game to QBs on the year, as well as the lowest yards per pass attempt allowed on the year. Jayden only totaled 14.4 FanDuel points in his earlier matchup against Philly this year, a full 7 points below his season average. He has the potential to be a good on the ground as a rusher, but I wouldn’t take a risk rostering him in DFS this week.

RB

Bop – Jahmyr Gibbs – DET, $8,300 – vs Bears

Jahmyr Gibbs is arguably the top fantasy RB for the remainder of the season after the unfortunate David Montgomery knee injury for both season long and DFS.   In 3 games without David Montgomery in 2023, Gibbs averaged 23 touches (18 rushes and 5 catches), 132 total yards, and has 2 TDs. In a great matchup against the Chicago Bears in week 16, that seems like a reasonable floor for Gibbs. Chicago is the 2nd best matchup for RBS on the season, and he is criminally underpriced this week. Do not overthink this play.

Flop – Kenneth Walker III – SEA, $7,000 – vs Vikings

Kenneth Walker III is returning after a 2-week absence and gets a to face the second worst matchup for RBs this season, the Minnesota Vikings as his prize.  He was struggling pre-injury, as he hasn’t scored more then 12.9 FanDuel points since week 5.  Zach Charbonnet will surely eat into Walker’s workload more than normal, making him a fade this week, despite an enticing $7,000 price tag.

WR

Bop – Jakobi Meyers – LVR, $6,700 – vs Jaguars

We are attacking the Jacksonville Jaguars secondary again this week and loading up on Jakobi Meyers, among other Raiders.  Meyers has averaged 11 targets a game in his last 4 matchups, and that trend should continue in this matchup.  Jacksonville ranks bottom 3 in the league in receiving yards per game allowed, tards per target allowed, and FanDuel PPG allowed to WRs on the year.  They also have allowed WRs to score 6.5 points above their season average over the last 5 weeks. Jakobi Meyers is a strong cash game play his week.

Flop – Terry McLaurin – WAS, 8,000 – vs Eagles

Terry McLaurin has been incredible in his last 3 games, but he gets a bad draw like his QB this week facing the Philadelphia Eagles defense.  In his last matchup against Philly, he put up a whooping 1 catch for 10 yards.  Hs stellar play the last 3 weeks makes it tough, but I recommend fading him in this matchup.

TE

Bop – Trey McBride – ARI, $7,500 – vs Panthers

Trey McBride has done everything right this fantasy season for his fantasy owners this season except score receiving TDs.  In his last 4 games, McBride has averaged 13 targets, 10 receptions, and 96 receiving yards.  We could see him get him 1st TD reception this week against the lowly Carolina Panthers secondary. They are the 2nd best matchup for TDs this season.  They have the highest TD% allowed to the position this season, and they give up the 2nd most FanDuel PPG to TEs.  If you are paying up for TE this week on FanDuel, McBride is a top tier choice.

Flop – Sam LaPorta – DET, 6,000 – vs Bears

Sam LaPorta has been one of the bigger busts this fantasy season, and its not looking good for his prospects in week 16.  The Lions play outdoors this week with a projected game temperature of 31 degrees, and their passing offense usually struggles in those conditions.  They are plenty of other solid TE choices on this slate to avoid LaPorta in this subpar situation.
