The 2020 NFL draft is finally completed. Some teams made some very relevant moves in terms of fantasy football. Some others left everyone scratching their head (Yes, we are talking about you, Green Bay Packers) as they did nothing to improve their own chances at winning. I will be giving a division by division breakdown of each team’s fantasy relevant draft picks and how it will impact them in the upcoming fantasy season.
Atlanta Falcons – C
Notable Draft Picks
C Matt Hennessy
The Falcons don’t have many offensive holes to fill. In fact, they are the first team in NFL history to have a 1st round pick projected to start at every position on offense. Assuming Todd Gurley and Julio Jones can stay healthy, this offense will put up a lot of fantasy points.
Carolina Panthers– D
Notable Draft Picks
N/A
The Panthers are the first team in the common draft era to spend all of the draft picks on the defensive side of the ball. For our purposes, that doesn’t help anyone. They were able to acquire Teddy Bridgewater and Robby Anderson via Free Agency, so they are looking to score as much as possible while their defense gains some experience.
New Orleans Saints – C-
Notable Draft Picks
C Cesar Ruiz
TE Adam Trautman
Drew Brees is likely playing the last year of his career, so the Saints must protect him at all costs. Drafting C Cesar Ruiz will help with that, as well help the running game. TE Adam Trautman is a solid playmaker who can step in to start for Jared Cook in a year or 2, but isn’t on the fantasy draft radar in 2020.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers – A
Notable Draft Picks
OT Tristan Wirfs
RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn
WR Tyler Johnson
TE Rob Gronkowski (via Trade)
Tampa Bay signed Tom Brady this offe-season, and they made full use of the draft to help him bring Tampa Bay its first Super Bowl title. OT Tristan Wirfs will protect Brady’s blindside for the next 2 years. They drafted RB Ke’Shawn Vaughn to compete for the starting RB job. The biggest gain was obtaining Rob Gronkowski for a 4th round pick. Drafting any piece of this Bucs offense that you can in fantasy is a must this year.
