Cam Akers suffers torn Achilles; Out for 2021 NFL season

According to reports, second year Rams RB Cam Akers suffered a torn Achilles tendon while working out on Tuesday. He will obviously be out for the 2021 NFL season, and will look to return in 2022, hopefully better than before.

Fantasy Insight

This is an unfortunate event for Akers and the Rams. One of the "benefits" of the Covid 19-impacted 2020 season, was very limited off season activities, which meant there were very few devastating injuries before week 1. Akers was expected to be a solid second year player, ashe was being drafted as a mid level RB1so far this draft season.

Darrell Henderson is next in line to be the lead ball carrier for the Rams. He was highly touted by Rams coach Sean McVay, when he was drafted in the 3rd round back in 2019, and the Rams have come out and said that they currently don't have plans to bring in a veteran RB. We will see in the coming weeks how true those words turn out to be, but if they do not bring anyone in, I would expect Henderson to be drafted in the low end RB2/high end RB3 range, between Rounds 4-6, around guys like Mike Davis and Myles Gaskin.
