Christian McCaffrey suffers high ankle sprain; out 4-6 weeks

According to reports, Carolina Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey suffered a high ankle sprain in week 2. He is expected to miss at least 4 weeks.

Fantasy Insight

Crazy how the consensus #1 overall pick in Fantasy Football suffering a big injury isn't the worst news of the week, but welcome to 2020. We all know how high ankle sprains can linger all year long, so we can only hope that the Panthers keep McCaffrey out long enough to allow the ankle get as close to 100% as possible. Hopefully your league has an IR spot to stash CMC while not clogging up your bench.

McCaffrey was injured late enough in the game so he didn't hurt your fantasy lineup, but it also didn't allow us to see how the carries will be distributed while CMC is on the shelf. Mike Davis only had 1 carry in the game, but he caught all 8 of his targets for 74 yards, so it appears he will be first in line to replace McCaffrey. He is more than likely the top waiver wire target this week and worth blowing at least 40% of your FAAB budget if you are in need of a starting RB.
