Drew Brees injures thumb: out 6+ weeks

Writer: Michael GrayMichael Gray

According to reports, New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees suffered several torn ligaments in his thumb on his throwing hand in the loss to the Rams on Sunday. He is likely to have surgery and good miss at least 6 weeks.

Fantasy Impact

This is a big blow for one of fantasy football's most important offenses. Brees couldn't even grip a football after the injury. Stash him on your IR, if you have that option in your league. Otherwise, you may need to drop him to pick up your replacement.

Teddy Bridgwater is set to start in Brees' absence. He is not a starting option outside of 2 QB leagues/Superflex leagues. Michael Thomas takes a hit with Brees out. He remains a WR2 in PPR. Kamara takes a hit on the receiving side, but is likely to get more rushing work. He is still a great top 10 RB. Jared Cook can be safely dropped. No other Saints' passing game options should be rostered.
