Pump or Dump 2021 – Chicago Bears

Draft Season is here! Bestball Leagues are flowing! The NFL Preseason is upon us. DraftHustle is here to get you ready to dominate your drafts and get to the money and the trophies! This is part of a series I am titling "Pump & Dump". From each team, I will be choosing one player I am high on (Pump), and one player I am avoiding in fantasy drafts for the 2021 season (Dump). You can check out my rankings here!

PUMP – N/A

NFFC ADP – N/A

NDL Rank – N/A

The Chicago Bears are one of the few teams that can draft a top 2 QB prospect and still find a way to disappoint football fans. Their insistence on starting Andy Dalton over Justin Fields has tempered expectations for the few fantasy options they do have. I want to be excited about Fields, but not knowing when he will finally start makes him tricky to draft and kills the upside of Allen Robinson. The coaching staff will inevitably ruin Davis Montgomery’s value by using Damien Williams and Tarik Cohen too much. Jimmy Graham will tip-toe on the field to often to get excited about Cole Kmet. It’s a hot mess and you should temper expectations.

DUMP – Darnell Mooney, WR

NFFC10 ADP – WR46 (#104 Overall)

NDL Rank – WR56

Although we don’t know when it will be, Justin Fields will eventually take over as starting QB for the Bears. While this will be exciting to Allen Robinson’s upside, it more than likely will not be great for the rest of the receiving weapons in Chicago, namely Darnell Mooney. He was very good towards the end of last season, especially as a deep threat. My concern is the lack of volume, as Fields will run more than Dalton. Drafting him as a WR4 in the 9th round is too rich for my blood.
