Pump or Dump 2021 – Detroit Lions

Draft Season is here! Bestball Leagues are flowing! The NFL Preseason is upon us. DraftHustle is here to get you ready to dominate your drafts and get to the money and the trophies! This is part of a series I am titling "Pump & Dump". From each team, I will be choosing one player I am high on (Pump), and one player I am avoiding in fantasy drafts for the 2021 season (Dump). You can check out my rankings here!

PUMP – Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR

NFFC ADP – WR74 (#188 Overall)

NDL Rank – WR55

The Detroit Lions and exciting haven’t been associated in years, and that remains true, but there I some light at the end of the tunnel. Amon-Ra St. Brown, the 2021 4th round pick of the Lions has potential to be the starting slot WR for Detroit who project to be losing a lot this season resulting in late game passing. In PPR leagues, he makes an excellent WR5 to stash on your roster with low-end WR3 potential.

DUMP – T.J. Hockenson, TE

NFFC10 ADP – TE5 (#61 Overall)

NDL Rank – TE6

I get the anticipated target potential that everyone sees for T.J. Hockenson. I am just not as big of a believer in the talent of T.J. Hockenson to capitalize on it. Outside of a 5 game stretch at the end of 2019, Jared Goff hasn’t favored TEs. He should still lead all Lions pass-catchers, but the lack of TD upside has me ranking him just below Mark Andrews, contrary to current ADP.
