Draft Season is here! Bestball Leagues are flowing! The NFL Preseason is upon us. Drafthustle is here to get you ready to dominate your drafts and get to the money and the trophies! This is part of a series I am titling "Pump, Stump and Dump". From each team, I will be choosing one player I am high on (Pump), and one player I am avoiding in fantasy drafts for the 2021 season (Dump). You can check out my rankings here!
PUMP – Brandin Cooks, WR
NFFC ADP – WR41 (#100 Overall)
NDL Rank – WR31
There isn’t much positive going on in the Texans organization, so this a tricky one. Brandin Cooks is the only WR of note on the Texans, and he is a situation where his team is so bad, that they will have no choice but to pass the ball, no matter who the QB is. 120 targets seems like the minimum in his current situation, and it will only get higher if Watson plays the majority of the season. He has the pedigree of a perennial top 15 WR, so getting him as a 4th WR/Flex in the 9th round is a major steal.
DUMP – N/A
NFFC10 ADP – N/A
NDL Rank – N/A
The Texans are so bad that only 4 of their players are being drafted in normal size leagues, and 1 of them could be suspended for half the season at any moment. Deshaun Watson can be drafted as QB3 in Superflex leagues for the upside alone. David Johnson is being taken at a good value in the 9th round. My issue is him being taken as a RB4. I would prefer to have someone with more upside as a 4th RB as opposed to a guy who has more perceived volume security. The only exception would be if I take a Zero RB approach. If I load up on the other positions early on, I would not be opposed to drafting David Johnson as an RB2 or RB3/bye week fill in. Phillip Lindsay is being drafted so late that there is no negative to taking him as a flyer in Bestball or deeper leagues.
