With all the top tier moves being made, there have been a couple of fantasy relevant moves that flew a little under the radar. In an attempt to replace Deandre Hopkins, The Houston Texans signed veteran slot WR Randall Cobb to a 3-year deal. Down in south Florida, the Miami Dolphins have signed RB Jordan Howard to a 2-year deal.
Fantasy Impact
Randall Cobb, WR – signed with Houston Texans
While he doesn’t quite fill the void left by Nuk Hopkins, Randall Cobb can certainly fill in and be respectable. Will Fuller and Kenny Stills are both speedy WRs who can take the top of a defense, leaving plenty of room underneath for Randall Cobb to work the middle of the field. He isn’t as explosive as he was during his hay day in Green Bay, but I can see him getting around 60-70 catches in that Houston offense. As far as draft stock, however, I would draft as the WR 4 on my teams at best, given that the Texans don’t invest heavily at WR in the NFL draft.
Jordan Howard, RB – signed with Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins RB situation after Kenyan Drake was traded was one
of the worst things I can recall, and I have been watching football for over 2 decades. Jordan Howard will be the starter from day 1 and will get all the work he can handle. The Dolphins have three 1st round draft picks, so I expect them to bolster that offensive line with at least one them. As long as the Dolphins don’t spend an early draft pick at RB, I expect Jordan Howard to be drafted as RB3/flex with a lot of TD upside.
