Watson gets his wish: Deshaun headed to Cleveland!

Almost a year after telling the world he wants out of Houston, Deshaun Watson is finally getting traded. According to reports, the Houston Texans are trading QB Deshaun Watson to the Cleveland Browns, along with a 5th round pick. The Houston Texans will be receiving three 1st round pick, a 3rd, and a 4th round pick.

Fantasy Insight

Deshaun Watson is the biggest winner in this deal. He goes from a bottom 3 team in the league to an AFC championship contender with a very good roster. The Browns just acquired Amari Cooper, a top 12 WR in terms of talent, so Watson will have at least one elite target. Cleveland still has a top 5 offensive line, and arguably the best 1-2 RB tandem in the league, so Watson will not have to do everything. My initial rankings will have Watson as a low end QB1, barring any future suspension.

Amari Cooper will remain in the same WR 12-18 territory he would have had, had he stayed in Dallas. He will be the clear top target for Watson, and he can easily approach the 130 target range. I still expect the Browns to bolster their WR corp, which will only help draw attention away from Cooper.

The Texans really don't have any change in value, due to Watson not having played a snap last year. They appear to be looking to have Davis Mills as their starter in 2022, and they will certainly use the draft picks they received from Cleveland to help bolster the weapons around him.
