QB

Jared Goff – DET vs Rams - $7,500

Jared Goff is an elite play at QB in week 1 of the 2024 NFL Fantasy Season.  He gets a home game against his former team, the Los Angeles Rams.  This Lions offense is fully healthy and will be looking to put on a show in the season opener.  He averaged 267 passing yards, 3 touchdowns, and 21.35 Fanduel PPG in his home games last season.  The Rams defense will be without future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald this year, making an already weak D/ST even weaker. This game has the highest Vegas Over-Under (52.5) on the Main Slate, and the Lions have the highest implied Vegas point total (28.5) on the slate.  Start Jared Goff with confidence in week 1 DFS.

RB

De’Von Achane – MIA vs Jaguars - $7,200

De’Von Achane took the league by storm (when healthy) last season. Achane averaged 8.1 yards per opportunity (carry + target) last season and is reportedly getting an expanded role in the passing game in his second year.  I don’t expect him to keep that same efficiency, but I do expect an increase in volume due to the Dolphin’s defense being very banged up to start the year. The Miami Dolphins face the Jaguars in week 1, who were a middle of the road run defense last season.  With a Vegas O/U of 49, and the Dolphins having the 3rd highest Implied Team Total (26.25), Achane will have plenty of chances to put up big numbers. $7,200 for a RB with Achane’s upside is a great week 1 play.

WR

Cooper Kupp – LAR vs Lions - $7,000

Cooper Kupp has been subpar by his standards due to injuries the last 2 season, but reports are he is healthy and back to his 2021 Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl MVP form.  In his last healthy season, Kupp averaged 8.5 receptions, 114.5 receiving yards, a TD (22.9 FanDuel points) a game.  In week 1, Kupp gets to go against a Lions secondary that gave up the 3rd most receiving yards per game and FanDuel PPG to WRs.  $7,000 is probably the cheapest Kupp will be all season, so taking advantage of that discount in a Sunday Night Football shootout is a lock. 

TE

Trey McBride – ARI vs Bills - $6,400

Trey McBride had a breakout sophomore NFL season and will look to build on that in his first full season as a starter.  Kyler Murray is fully healthy, and rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. will help take coverage away from McBride, opening him up to dominate in 2024.  Arizona’s week 1 opponent, the Buffalo Bills, will be a much weaker secondary than in previous seasons after losing both starting safeties from last season.  This game as a decently high Vegas O/U (47.5), which correlates very well with TE scoring, so McBride is a good play with upside for DFS this week at a decent price.

D/ST

Atlanta Falcons – vs Steelers - $3,600

The Atlanta Falcons have greatly improved their defense from last season, and will look to take advantage of a great week 1 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.  Whether the Steelers start a banged-up Russell Wilson, or turnover prone Justin Fields at QB, the Falcons will look to keep a mediocre at best offense in check.  This Falcons are favored by 3 in a game that’s anticipated to be relatively low scoring according to Vegas (42 O/U), making their $3,600 price tag a great value play in all DFS formats.
