Wentz He Gonna Find a Home? Carson Wentz traded to Commanders.

Carson Wentz has gone from potential MVP candidate to NFL journeyman, as he is on the move yet again. Reports are that Colts Quarterback Carson Wentz is being traded to the Washington Commanders along with a 2nd round pick. The Colts will receive one 2nd round pick and two 3rd round picks.

Fantasy Insight

For all intents and purposes, Carson Wentz is an upgrade from Taylor Heinicke...... we think. He was serviceable for the Colts in 2021 and will be the presumed starter for Washington going into 2022. This move should give a slight boost to Terry McLaurin, who has performed despite having less than stellar QB play so far in his short career. Antonio Gibson will remain a top 15 RB. Whoever starts at TE (preferably Logan Thomas) for the Commanders will also receive a slight bump, as Carson Wentz has favored the TE throughout his career.

As far as the Colts go, we are waiting to see who they decide to turn to as Wentz's replacement. The early favorite appears to be Jimmy Garoppolo, but he has just undergone shoulder surgery, so his status is up in the air. Marcus Mariota is also available and if he to get the nod, all of the Colts relevant weapons would receive a sizable downgrade in fantasy value. Regardless, Jonathan Taylor's role will only be more secure and robust in 2022, further cementing him as the #1 pick regardless of format.
