Davante Adams headed to Las Vegas: Fantasy Insight

NFL Free Agency has been fantastic this year. In another blockbuster trade involving the AFC West, the Green Bay Packers have traded All-Pro WR Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for their 1st and 2nd round picks in the upcoming 2022 NFL draft. I can only imagine how Aaron Rodgers feel right about now.

Fantasy Insight

Derek Carr is the biggest winner in this trade, as he now has a chance to throw to the best WR in the NFL 150 times a year along with Darren Waller and Hunter Renfrow. He goes from a mid-tier QB2 to a low-end QB1 with top 5 weekly upside. Davante Adams get a slight tick down in value going from Aaron Rodgers to Derek Carr, but remains a top 6 WR in all formats.

Darren Waller is still a top 4 TE, but Hunter Renfrow is no more than a WR3 in PPR formats at this point.

Aaron Rodgers is the obviously biggest loser in the deal, fantasy-wise. Reports are that he was aware that Davante was being shopped when he signed his extension with Green Bay, but I don't buy it. Currently, his top target is Allen Lazard who is nowhere near the talent that Davante Adams is. There are still a few marque WRs on the free agent market (Juju Smith-Schuster and Jarvis Landry to name a few) and Green Bay has plenty of targets available for anyone they acquire, but for now, Aaron Rodgers is a borderline QB1 at best.
